The Apple TV app is now accessible on all Android TV devices

When they announced the app’s arrival on the Shield TV, NVIDIA was the first to break the news that Apple TV might be coming to Android TV devices. Fortunately, the app will soon be available across the rest of the Android TV OS ecosystem. This includes Android TV-powered streaming boxes, sticks, and TVs from companies like Xiaomi, TCL, and Hisense.

If you have an Android TV device, you can check it yourself. We can confirm that it has been installed on our Skyworth Smart TV, which runs Android TV 9.0. It isn’t on the Google Play Store landing page for us, but a quick search returns it right away. Google and other OEMs are unlikely to make formal announcements about this, so do your own research.

Apple TV is now available for Android TV devices running Android 8.0 Oreo or later. The Apple TV app provides access to Apple Original shows and movies from the Apple TV+ streaming service. You can also purchase or rent movies from within the app. You can also instruct the app to recommend shows and movies based on what you’ve previously watched.

This comes at an excellent time because Apple recently announced its Summer Content lineup, which includes Lisey’s Story, Home Before Dark Season 2, Physical, Central Park Season 2, and Ted Lasso Season 2.
